British holidaymakers have reported suffering holiday illness at the Hauza Beach Resort in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.

There have been numerous reports relating to poor food and hygiene standards and unclean guest rooms. British holidaymakers have used the hotel review website TripAdvisor to comment on the facilities at the Hauza Beach Resort.

One holidaymaker from London commented: “There is very little variety of food. It looks old and reused from breakfast and dinner.

“The restaurant has a very distinct smell that will stay with you for a while although we cant quite put our finger on what it smelt of but it wasnt nice.

“The food was a massive let down. We were so unwell, even after going to the pharmacy for help.”

Others found unclean rooms which had been infested with ants on their arrival at the hotel.

Another hotel guest from London commented: “The shower was filthy with a thick film up the walls of old gunk which others have washed off over many months. Massive ants infested the bathroom, crawling all over the toilet seat.

“The food, cutlery, and crockery was not replaced quickly. Food was not kept warm enough to stop bugs.”

There have been many more complaints regarding the condition of hotel rooms. Some have also reported requesting to transfer from the hotel in order to enjoy the remaining days of their holiday elsewhere.

A hotel guest from Bedford said: “Dirty rooms, bed linen dirty and smelly, bathroom black, floor dirty with ants. Do not go in the restaurant as it is the worst food we have ever eaten on holiday resulting in an upset tummy for half of the holiday and three days after our return home.”
