“Sickness bug” wreaks havoc at the Liberty Hotels Lykia resort

YHC’s legal experts have been notified of the current situation at Turkey’s Liberty Hotels Lykia, where holidaymakers are continuing to fall ill at the Thomas Cook promoted resort.

Our travel law team have discovered a number of negative reviews, which have been posted by distressed former guests of the five star resort on website TripAdvisor.

In a review titled “Sickness bug sort the hygiene out”, one recent guest of the Liberty Hotels Lykia revealed:

“On the 3rd day my nephew of 14 was ill, followed by his mum, then myself.

“We had sickness, diarrhoea, [stomach] cramps and [high] temperatures. My sister was confined to [her] bed for 2 days.

“Lots of other guests had been ill with the same thing. I don’t think it was the food but a case of cleanliness? Bearing in mind the sickness etc. in our room, the floors were never mopped once.

“This hotel is not up to 5* standard and totally overrated. A total real disappointment that cost us a lot of money!”

Furthermore, alarmingly other holidaymakers have also complained online after suffering from sickness at the five star resort.

One October 2017 guest posted:

“Was there in a party of 16 and 15 of us ALL got it (the sickness bug), [with] 1 member ending up in hospital!

“Whilst [we were] in the dinner hall people were actually throwing up in front of [the] buffets or [whilst] running to toilets!! And staff simply sweep it up?! No disinfectant used!! [We were] on edge from [the] start of holiday to [the] end as it’s so off putting!

“The hotel offer FREE sickness and diarrhoea injections and medication, now you’re not telling me that this is just in case there could be a problem? They know full well [that] there is a problem!!

“We had spoken with Thomas cook before going after reading bad reviews and they will tell you they have had no reports! Absolute LIES!!”
