Holidaymakers staying at BlueBay Grand Esmerelda Mexico in Cancun have warned others â âdont waste your moneyâ.
Poor hygiene standards have been reported on TripAdvisor by holidaymakers recently.
Tour operator, Thomas Cook, promote the all-inclusive BlueBay Grand Esmerelda. They say, âsix á la carte restaurants, everyone can find the food of their choiceâ.
However it does not appear that holidays have lived up to expectations with one guest warning âdo not go to the Italian restaurant, the food was like plastic!â
Another guest referred to the oriental selection as âhorribleâ.
âThe steak is impossible to cut throughâ claimed another, âthe chicken is overcooked and dry and the pasta is overcooked with sauce thrown on topâ.
Hygiene at the hotel was also criticised. One holidaymaker commented, âThe rooms and buildings smelt like septic tanks â our room hadnt been cleaned in three days, I can only compare the bathroom to a training pottyâ.
Another guest claimed to have returned home with âbed bugsâ. âWe were waking up with bites, we thought must have been mosquito bitesâ he said. âBut after returning home, we concluded they were bed bugs!â
Tracy Stansfield, an experienced solicitor at Your Holiday Claims, commented on reports: âIts alarming to learn of people returning home from their holidays with suspected bed bug bites.â
âI would urge hotel management and Thomas Cook to conduct a full investigation into the standards of hygiene within the hotel.
âI would also encourage anyone suffering from insect bites or illness at BlueBay Grand Esmerelda in Mexico, to seek medical attention immediately.â
