We are becoming increasingly concerned after reading reports of illness outbreaks at the Hilton Sharks Bay in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.
Guests at the hotel have complained after becoming ill with stomach bugs. Meals served have been described as âhit and missâ and âtasteless and blandâ.
One couple on review site TripAdvisor commented âthe food was not as bad as some say, although we both picked up stomach bugs towards the end of our stayâ.
Another couple were approached by guest relations to comment on their stay and they shared their views and concern. Guest relations attempted to restore the couples faith I the hotel by offering them a âspecial table outside with candles and rose petals.â The couple said that âthe chef made up a special meal of Waldorf salad to start and then steakâ. Although a nice gesture, the couple went on to suffer further stomach issues.
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, commented on the reports: âReading about stomach bugs at a hotel is always a concern.â
âGastric illnesses are commonly caused by consuming contaminated food and water. E. coli, salmonella and campylobacter are examples of bacteria that cause gastroenteritis. Raw eggs, raw shellfish and undercooked meats are often the culprits.â
âIt appears that there has been a breakdown in food and hygiene practices at the Hilton Sharks Bay and I would urge anyone who has fallen ill at this hotel to contact Your Holiday Claims for expert advice on how to make a successful claim for compensation.â
