“Beware what you eat”: Food poisoning outbreak reported at The Grand at Moon Palace

Dismayed holidaymakers have taken to TripAdvisor to comment on the problems they experienced at the Thomas Cook promoted hotel, including one January 2018 visitor who revealed:

“Quite frankly, [this is] the reason why this resort doesn’t get a 5 star review.

“At the end of the second day, my wife started to feel ill. She went back to the room to lay down. She then started to vomit, have diarrhoea and terrible intestinal cramps during the night.

“She was knocked out and stayed in bed during the entire next day. As me and my kids didn’t get sick we started to wonder what would have caused this [?]

“It wasn’t water because we all 4 brushed our teeth with the tap water. We came to the conclusion that the only thing that my wife ate that hasn’t been shared with the rest of the family was Sushi at the main buffet.

“As you can see in other reviews, we were not the only one who faced this issue”.

Worryingly this poster was correct, as further reviews reveal that additional visitors of The Grand at Moon Palace have also had their stays marred by sickness. Another affected guest warns others to “listen to the reviews”, before claiming:

“This is the WORST vacation I have ever been on (and I get 7 weeks vacation a year).

“Room cleaning was a joke. 2 days without fresh linen. We ran out of toilet paper in BOTH ROOMS during our stay”.

“Everyone in the family got sick and we spent New Years Eve in a Mexican Hospital as one family member had bloody diarrhoea, [a] fever of 103 and dehydration (the rest of us thankfully got this to a much lesser extent).

“I could have saved myself thousands by listening to the reviews…and you should too”.
