A lady who travelled to the Sea Club Aqua Park in April 2014 has returned to the UK describing her family holiday as an âabsolute nightmareâ.
After just two nights stay at the Sea Club Aqua Park in Nabq Bay, Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, the family paid £600.00 to be moved to the Royal Albatros Moderna hotel after discovering holidaymakers staying at the same hotel had become severely ill, suffering with symptoms of suspected food poisoning and requiring medical treatment.
On Tripadvisor the lady said: âWe were booked in here for a 10 day holiday, stayed two nights and paid £600.00 to move to the Royal Albatros Moderna that we stayed at two years ago.
âWe arrived at 6pm on Thursday 17th April to be greeted by a distressed woman at reception, waiting for a taxi to take her family to another hotel. Her little boy had been vomiting for 5 days constantly and on the 6thday, a doctor had put him on a drip. Her husband had then started with it along with her other child, she said I will let you draw your own conclusion.
âWe got settled and went down for evening meal which was unedible, nothing was hot, all luke warm, even the pasta with a watery tomato sauce which I thought was a safe option had a really weird taste to it. The fresh pizza that my daughter chose as she put it was ok but I couldnt eat it again.
âBreakfast was ok, toast fresh and fresh omelettes but on looking closer in the restaurant in daylight, behind the food stations was absolutely filthy.
âWe were not prepared to spend out precious holiday worry about being ill and decided to move to the Royal Albatros which is an amazing hotel with wonderful food.
âOn a positive note, the staff at the Sea Club couldnt do enough for you, all lovely and the water slides are amazing but not enough to keep us there Im afraid, never again.â
The Sea Club Aqua Park unfortunately is no stranger to Your Holiday Claims, one of the UKs leading holiday illness claims specialists.
Commenting on the recent outbreak reported at the Sea Club Aqua hotel, Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims commented: âI am really concerned to hear the reports of illness at the Sea Club Aqua Park but it doesnt surprise me that gastric illness has struck holidaymakers. Poor hygiene standards in the restaurants and lukewarm food are a recipe for disaster.
âUnfortunately there have been previous outbreaks of illness at this hotel and I have recently settled claims for holidaymakers who contracted food poisoning whilst at the Sea Club Aqua Park during their holidays in December 2012. It seems that there have been further breakdowns in food handling practices and procedures at this hotel.
âAny holidaymaker who suffers illness as a result of such breakdowns is entitled to claim compensation from their tour company. It is absolutely vital that tour operators monitor illness levels and take immediate steps to investigate and resolve matters otherwise illness will continue to affect guests.
âAnyone who has stayed at this hotel and suffered from symptoms of diarrhoea, stomach cramps and vomiting should contact either myself or one of my team for further advice as they may be entitled to compensation not only for their illness but also for their ruined holiday.â
