We have recently been instructed by clients who have fallen ill whilst staying at the Cleopatra Luxury Resort in Sharm el Sheikh.
The Cleopatra Luxury Resort is promoted by Red Sea Holidays amongst others. The hotel is a 5 star all-inclusive and enjoys a beachfront location. The property consists of three restaurants, five bars and three swimming pools.
Our client has said that all three party members became ill whilst at this hotel suffering from symptoms including âdiarrhoea and severe stomach cramps.â
Holidaymakers have also reviewed the hotel on TripAdvisor stating it was ânot a luxury resort.â
One family has commented on their time at this hotel saying âwe changed our flights to come home early.â Unfortunately the family suffered for five days of their trip with diarrhoea. They have said that the buffet and a la carte restaurants served âterrible foodâ and had âpoor hygiene.â
Another family witnessed the plastic beakers being rinsed in tap water after use, which is thought to have caused symptoms of âdiarrhoeaâ amongst the family.
Another revealed that the food served in the restaurants was âcold.â They sent it back to the kitchen only for it to be served âcold again.â
Our client has said that this experience âreally spoiltâ their holiday and that the holiday was âreally expensiveâ which they saved all year for to âhave the worst possible time.â
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, has commented: âIt is really important for hygiene practices to be kept at a high level.â
âIf international standards are not followed it can result in guests falling ill with symptoms such as diarrhoea, stomach cramps and vomiting.â
âI hope that the tour operators who contract with this hotel will carry out a full investigation to the cause of the illness outbreaks.â
