Several holidaymakers have asked us to represent them after an outbreak of suspected Salmonella food poisoning at the Neilson Club Adakoy in Marmaris, Turkey.
Neilson is part of Thomas Cook Tour Operations Ltd. The hotel is described by the tour operator as´offering a wide range of inclusive activities in a picturesque, secluded setting within a protected natural park.´
More than 100 holidaymakers are reported to have been taken ill with symptoms of severe diarrhoea, stomach cramps and sickness.
Some guests required hospital treatment after being struck down with the illness. Our clients told us that hygiene was a major issue at the hotel and that food was left out in the heat, exposed to the elements and to insect contamination.
Anne Thomson, Head of the Holiday Illness Claims Department at Farnworth Rose, says: âOutbreaks of Salmonella food poisoning are preventable. This type of illness commonly occurs when hygiene standards are poor. Thomas Cook should investigate this hotel as soon as possible to ensure no-one else is exposed to illness.
âI would encourage anyone who has suffered illness during their stay at this hotel to contact us for legal advice and to find out if they have a claim for compensation.â
