Holiday to Hotel Greenland in Ovacik, Turkey, results in severe illness

We have recently been contacted by holidaymakers who have been hospitalised during their stay at the Hotel Greenland in Ovacik, Turkey as a result of suspected food poisoning.

The couple who contacted us had to be treated via an intravenous drip for 12 hours and were still suffering from illness two weeks after their return to the UK.

The holiday on an all-inclusive basis with Jet2holidays and the couple believe the poor standard of food and hygiene at the hotel was the cause of their illness. They also told us that there had been an infestation of wasps all over the food in the restaurant.

In recent years, holidaymakers on TripAdvisor have raised concerns and made reports about poor standards of food and hygiene at the Hotel Greenland.

A recent reviewer who stayed at the hotel in August 2013 said:  “I was served raw chicken as the chef was rushing to serve the queue.´
