At Your Holiday Claims we have recently been instructed by British holidaymakers who suffered gastric illness whilst on holiday at the Dar Khayam Hotel in Tunisia.
In 2013 we were instructed by holidaymakers who contracted salmonella infections at the Dar Khayam. The claims were brought against tour operator Thomas Cook and were successfully resolved.
Salmonella infections are often the result of food poisoning which causes gastroenteritis. Typical symptoms are severe diarrhoea, stomach cramps, and sickness.
British holidaymakers have also commented on TripAdvisor describing the Dar Khayam Hotel as a âhell holeâ. The toilets and guest rooms at the hotel have also been described as âfilthyâ.
One holidaymaker stated that they suffered stomach problems during their stay, claiming that âalcohol is watered downâ.
They added: âI would not return to this hotel based purely on the food. Repetitive, lacking in taste, and not very adventurous.
âI have had a funny tummy since I arrived even though I was careful about what I ate and only drank bottled water.â
Tracy Stansfield, an experienced holiday claims solicitor at Your Holiday Claims, commented: âAs we have already handled claims for holidaymakers who contracted salmonella food poisoning at this hotel in 2013, it is worrying to see more cases of illness arising this year.
âWe would advise anyone who has suffered symptoms of gastric illness whilst on holiday at the Dar Khayam Hotel to contact us as soon as possible.
âWe are on hand to answer any questions that you may have on the claims process and will advise you on the merits of making a claim.â
