A number of British holidaymakers have reported an outbreak of sickness at the Club Jandia Princess Hotel in Fuerteventura.
Recent visitors to the Thomson promoted hotel have commented on the review website TripAdvisor after experiencing what they believed to be a widespread outbreak. One guest affected by the illness stated, “All you can hear is people going down with this bug”.
Another holidaymaker said they were aware of “at least 25 people that have had the same sickness and diarrhoea”. They added that many had simply “stayed in their rooms, too poorly to complain”.
A hotel guest reported that the severity of the illness resulted in “one family member passing out” after three family members had “gone down with sickness and upset stomachs”.
They added, “For the rest of our week stay we were trying to get over this illness which we found out was all over this hotel”.
Others have reported requiring medical treatment during their holiday after experiencing what they described as “the most severe sickness and stomach cramps I have ever had”.
Tracy Stansfield, an experienced holiday claims solicitor at Your Holiday Claims, commented: “We are currently reading a number of reports of sickness at the Club Jandia Princess Hotel. From the reports it would appear that the problem within the hotel is affecting quite a number of guests. “
“If there are issues with the food safety and or hygiene standards, there is a risk of such outbreaks of illness occurring. I would urge anyone who has been affected by illness at the Club Jandia Princess to contact Your Holiday Claims to discover whether they may be able to make a successful claim for compensation.”
