British tourists who have returned from their holiday at the Sun Tropical hotel in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote have called upon our holiday illness solicitors for help to make a successful claim for compensation after a recent outbreak of illness at the resort.
The Sun Tropical hotel offers all-inclusive dining facilities including a main buffet, believed to be one of the main causes of illness.
However, the poor standard of food in the hotel appears not to be the only cause for concern.Â One client who has contacted us has advised us that one of the children in the family has received test results back from their GP which confirm that Cryptosporidium was the cause of the sickness and diarrhoea.Â Cryptosporidium is a parasite which is commonly contracted through contaminated swimming pool water and can lead to large outbreaks of illness particularly at all inclusive hotels.
One British holidaymaker from London who returned from the hotel in August 2013 on Tripadvisor said:Â âEverything was great up until the 6th night. My daughter started being sick, then it passed through the rest of us. 2 days in and after her not being able to hold down water we took her to the doctors. They said it was viral rest and come back if doesnt settle.
âThe following day my husband takes her back to the doctors and returns. The doctors suspect she has gastroenteritis and needs hospital. As my son and myself were also ill, they set off.Â She was immediately seen, bloods taken and she was placed on an overnight drip. Turns out she had really high levels of toxins in her blood.
âThe hospital said it had more than likely come from the pool.Â After speaking to a lot of people turns out most people that used the main pool also suffered with sickness and there was also complaints regarding the water that was being servedâ.

âI also recommend that people try to obtain the contact details of any other holidaymakers in this hotel who have become ill and to also take any photographic evidence of the poor hygiene standards in the Sun Tropical hotel.
