Guests reportedly suffer from food poisoning at the Majestic Colonial Punta Cana
- Numerous holidays apparently ruined by sickness at the Dominican hotel
- Those affected criticise the food hygiene at the resort
- We reported on similar issues at the Majestic Colonial Punta Cana back in 2014
It has become evident to the travel law team here at YourHolidayClaims that multiple holidaymakers appear to have been struck by stomach sickness, whilst staying at the Majestic Colonial Punta Cana hotel.
Holidaymakers who have claimed to have been afflicted by the reported outbreak have detailed their experiences on the website TripAdvisor, such as one January visitor of the four star resort who posted:
âMy husband and I stayed at the Colonial with another couple for one week (end of January).
âThe food: I struggled here. Staff did not wear gloves [whist] touching already cooked foods, hot foods were not served very hot for the most part.
âUnfortunately, my friends husband started having watery diarrhoea around the third day. My husband and my friend followed a couple days later and mine started the day we got home.
âIt would be easy to say with certainty that it was from something we ate if we all got ill immediately but many food borne illnesses can take days to show symptoms and reoccur here and there for weeks or months.
âI think we got sick from the food. We have stomach pains tooâ.
Furthermore, worryingly this holidaymaker is not the only one who has reported to have had their visit at the Majestic Colonial Punta Cana hotel ruined by sickness. Another former guest who recently visited the Dominican hotel with their family revealed:
âFoodâ¦One word: disappointing.
âThe main buffet offered a decent variety of food but none of it was particularly tasty. Most of the food was bland, unappealing, or simply inedible.
âNow, the French/fine dining restaurant was delicious and would have been great, IF WE DIDNT GET FOOD POISONING!!!
âI have a suspicion that the fish was not fresh, and I was sick all night and the next day.
âOverall, the food was the most disappointing part of our stay. Whereas we usually gain weight after our stay, we came back skinnier than we left!â
Our legal experts comments
âIt is not unreasonable for guests to expect that hygiene is such that they will not become ill whilst staying at the Majestic Colonial Punta Cana.
âIt is essential that all staff members are fully trained in all aspects of international hygiene standards. However unfortunately it appears that this is not the case, as recent visitors of the resort have unfortunately appeared to have suffered from food poisoning.
âIf food poisoning has tainted your hard earned Dominican getaway, then our experts may be able to help you. Contact YourHolidayClaims now to find out whether or not you are entitled to make a holiday illness compensation claimâ.
