We have received an enquiry from a British couple who became ill, suffering from severe food poisoning after staying at the Iberostar Saphir Palace in Tunisia.
The couple, who holidayed at the 4 star all inclusive, told of how they suffered illness from their third day, and they continued to be unwell after their return to the UK.
The Ibersostar Saphir Palace is promoted by Thomas Cook amongst others and features two restaurants, two swimming pools, water sports and a Spa centre.
British guests to the hotel have also complained on TripAdvisor after suffering diarrhoea, sickness and stomach cramps.
The food has been described as ârepetitiveâ and âvery poor quality.â One guest said that the chicken was âundercookedâ on several occasions.
A couple to the hotel noted that flies hovered and sat amongst âopen food displayed.â They also witnessed âsmall birds flying around the restaurant, hovering from table to table.â The couple said: âThis is not five star, felt like I was staying in a hostel. Cakes from yesterday evening on display, why?â
Another holidaymaker who stayed at the hotel complained about the cleanliness of the hotel and stated âthe food wasnt much better, raw chicken and flies on the food!â
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims said: âIt is crucial that Thomas Cook work with management to investigate the possible cause of illness.â
âIt is not unreasonable for holidaymakers to expect that the food and hygiene standards in their hotel are such that they will not become ill.â
