Family getaways ruined by illness at Theo Sunset Bay Holiday Village
- Young children suffer from painful blisters
- Family’s first holiday leads to doctor-led care for baby girl
- Holidaymaker slams hotel’s response to the outbreak
A recently returned British holidaymaker has reached out to industry leaders YourHolidayClaims for legal advice after their son contracted hand, foot and mouth disease at Theo Sunset Bay Holiday Village.
According to an August 2016 review on TripAdvisor, the viral infection is “epidemic” at the resort.
The distressed holidaymaker continued:
“Last morning our baby woke up with 39 degree fever, all cover with red spots.
“We called the doctor which told us that it has been already 15 months that he is coming to our hotel for those poor little kids who suffer from fever and red blisters all over the body and in the throat.
“Swimming pool is open, the restaurant is full of kids and no any notice or announcement about any infection …The administration of the hotel takes no action, as they supposed to do, first, like they did in the nearby hotel, closed the swimming pool and aqua-park to prevent the epidemic”.
In a particularly disturbing comment, the holidaymaker claims that the hotel management instead “blamed kids” for the outbreak.

“Hand, foot and mouth disease is an unpleasant viral infection that causes painful blisters and illness symptoms such as fever, loss of appetite and a sore throat. The disease is commonly spread through person to person contact or through contaminated surfaces.
