Sickness sinks Dominican Republic getaways at Grand Bahia Principe La Romana

Reports of Dominican Republic holidays ruined by sickness at the five-star Grand Bahia Principe La Romana are emerging.

Several stricken guests have taken to hotel review site TripAdvisor to express their concerns regarding hygiene standards at the resort.

“My niece has been diagnosed with gastroenteritis,” writes one Nuneaton holidaymaker adding that “she was so poorly that we required the doctor.” Despite making the hotel aware of her nieces condition, the holidaymaker claims that both they and the tour operator representative were of little help.

Alarmingly, the recent guest also claims that “so many people … have mentioned they have had stomach cramps/upset stomach” during their stay.

Another holidaymaker reports that they were bedridden for three days with illness after eating at the seafood restaurant. They label the food on offer “awful” and claim that it was frequently “not at the right temperature” and left open to contamination by flies.

Your Holiday Claims regularly successfully settle no win no fee Dominican Republic food poisoning claims. In one of our more recent successes, our head of travel law Anne Thomson, helped a Darlington couple recover £3,270 in damages after an outbreak of gastric illness plagued their Caribbean anniversary trip.

Commenting on the reports of illness at Grand Bahia Principe La Romana, Anne said: “It is well known that poor hygiene standards can easily lead to serious illness such as gastroenteritis. If you’ve had a holiday ruined by gastroenteritis, you can find out how our gastroenteritis holiday claim solicitors can help you.

“Within large all-inclusive resorts, outbreaks of illness are not uncommon and I fear that many more British holidaymakers may have been affected by issues at the hotel.
