At Your Holiday Claims we have recently received an enquiry from British holidaymakers who have fallen ill on holiday at the Rixos Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt.
A couple who travelled to the hotel required treatment through an intravenous drip due to the severity of their illness.
We have previously been instructed by holidaymakers, two of whom were confirmed with salmonella after staying at the Rixos Sharm el Sheikh. We have also successfully settled claims against this hotel, recently helping a Norwich holidaymaker secure £2,750 in compensation after being left on a “cocktail of drugs” at the resort.
Others have reported experiencing symptoms including sickness, diarrhoea and stomach cramps at the Rixos Sharm el Sheikh. The holidaymakers commented on TripAdvisor after contracting gastroenteritis.
They stated: âAfter three days I was admitted to the onsite medical centre suffering with dehydration, gastroenteritis and low blood pressure. I have never been so sick and was only given the all clear 24 hours before my flight home.
âThe friends we were with suffered from diarrhoea and stomach cramps and since being home my husband has not been able to leave the house except to visit our GP.
âWe booked this for our first holiday without our teenage children and to celebrate our anniversary but wished wed stayed at home.â
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, said: âOur team has recently received an enquiry relating to the Rixos Sharm el Sheikh after a holidaymaker required hospital treatment.
âThe further reports of visitors to the hotel suffering gastroenteritis are concerning.
âGastroenteritis is an intestinal infection which can cause symptoms including sickness, stomach cramps and diarrhoea. Where the illness is severe, a loss of fluids can lead to dehydration.
âIn this case, it is important for holidaymakers to seek medical attention. Treatment through an intravenous drip may be required in order to replace lost fluids and prevent severe dehydration.
âWe would urge anyone who has fallen ill on holiday at the Rixos Sharm el Sheikh to contact Your Holiday Claims as soon as possible to discuss making a claim for compensation.â
