Illness outbreaks claiming several victims at the Cuban hotel

Over recent times, we have received multiple enquiries from British holidaymakers after their stays at the Hotel Playa Pesquero were halted by illness.

The latest outbreak that we have learned of is thought to be a form of food poisoning, which is leaving guests suffering from symptoms such as sickness and diarrhoea.

A married couple who travelled to the Cuban resort to celebrate Christmas and see the New Year in together have contacted Your Holiday Claims after what was supposed to be a dream getaway, was plagued by illness.

In addition to this, it appears that the couple haven’t been the only guests to have stayed at the Hotel Playa Pesquero who’ve had their stay spoiled by sickness.

Recent reports on website TripAdvisor portray the resort in a negative light, as numerous holidaymakers have uncovered the illness outbreaks that are present at the hotel.

The reports by holidaymakers consist of many different poor hygienic issues, such as undercooked food, unclean swimming pools and “obscene” toilet facilities.

In a particular review, one holidaymaker’s remarks emphasise the current problems at the hotel.

They claimed: “At this moment there is a sickness bug that has wiped out approximately 80% of the hotel with 18 people requiring IV fluids and a number have been admitted to hospital. This was confirmed to me by the numerous on site doctors.

“We were warned by the doctor to keep our children out of the pool as it was not good. This was confirmed by the lack of a smell of any chlorine in the water and only on our last day did we actually see someone adding some granular powder into the pool”.

There are further reports online of poor hotel standards at the Hotel Playa Pesquero, including poor quality food, which was often left uncovered and free to be contaminated by birds and insects.

A recent guest of the resort who visited from Gloucester, claimed: “All the food tasted disgusting. Nothing was covered to protect it from flies and birds, on one occasion I saw a fruit cake actually moving as it had so many insects in it”.

The holidaymaker then made a comment on the condition of their hotel room, and added: “Our room smelt damp and we had mould growing on the pillows… Two of us had to visit the doctors and my husband had to be treated with antibiotics for food poisoning”.
