Reports are emerging of a large outbreak of illness at the Pine Bay Holiday Resort in Kusadasi, Turkey.
British holidaymakers have commented on review website TripAdvisor after contracting stomach bugs during their stay at the hotel.
A number of hotel guests have complained of suffering symptoms including sickness, stomach cramps and diarrhoea. Others reported witnessing flies and wasps swarming around uncovered food.
A holidaymaker who was still staying at the resort commented: âUnfortunately were here and have the dreaded stomach virus too.
âMy partner and I have had diarrhoea since Tuesday. Its now Friday. We have been unable to leave the hotel as we need to be near a toilet.
âThe rep just told us to see a doctor to get a drip. She also told us that there is a virus in the hotel. It seems this has been going on for a while. We should have been told and given the choice to change hotel or cancel.â
Another visitor to the hotel from Lincolnshire stated: âWe stayed at Pine Bay for two weeks from the 2nd-16th August and were also affected by severe tummy troubles.
âI have never been on a holiday where I have eaten so little. Food was uncovered with wasps and flies swarming all over it.
âWe could not wait to get home and I am still suffering from tummy troubles now.â
Tracy Stansfield, an experienced holiday claims solicitor at Your Holiday Claims, commented: âWe are concerned to read the reports of illness at the Pine Bay Holiday Resort in Turkey.
âIt appears that a number of hotel guests are suffering similar symptoms during their stay, which may be the result of poor food and hygiene standards.
âIt is our hope that the tour operator and hotel management will carry out a full investigation into the cause of the illnesses suffered in order to protect the health of all future visitors.â
