A British holidaymaker who recently stayed at the Caribbean complex with her children claims gastric illness plagued their family getaway, and that poor hygiene at the hotel buffet was responsible.
Alarmingly, the holidaymakers condition was so serious that on her return home she was hospitalised due to suffering from a severe case of dehydration.
Unfortunately, on further inspection it appears that this holidaymaker is not the only recent guest of the ClubHotel Riu Bachata whose stay has been spoiled by sickness.
Commenting on TripAdvisor, one June 2017 visitor of the Dominican resort revealed:
âWe had bad stomachs for our entire trip as well as every single other person we spoke with that was there. Some people complained to Thomson but they were very dismissive – we have sent an email and are awaiting a response.
âYou expect it the first couple of days when you’re in the Caribbean but this was every day. I stopped drinking the water for a while and it seemed to get better for a few days. Not sure if this was a coincidence or there is a problems with the water in the restaurantsâ.
In addition to this, another holidaymaker also disclosed details about their ill-stricken stay as they posted:
âWe did eat as soon as the restaurants opened to try to ensure food hadn’t been out too long etc. but unfortunately I was quite ill during our trip as was my husband but the kids were fine.
âI would recommend taking ‘holiday tummy’ medication with you from homeâ.
