We are becoming increasingly concerned after reading recent reports of illness on TripAdvisor at the the Majestic Colonial Punta Cana in Dominican Republic.
Holidaymakers have complained about having their holiday ruined due to âthe food and poorly filtered water.â
Guests have commented on the food stating that the âbuffet in the morning made me sickâ and the hotel had âunsanitary food conditionsâ
One family reported that they suffered symptoms including vomiting, diarrhoea, fever and stomach cramps and that â5 out of the 10 of us got sick half way through the trip.â
Another holidaymaker stated âbased on other reviews on TripAdvisor and things that I heard from other visiting patrons, we were not the only ones who got sick. I told the Majestic staff and they were not sympathetic at all.â
Anne Thomson, Head of the Travel law department commented on the reports: âUnfortunately when food and hygiene levels fall or there is a breakdown in procedures guests are at risk of contracting a gastric illness. Food that is not handled correctly or cooked thoroughly can become contaminated with bacteria and this can lead to infections such as Salmonella.
âI would urge anyone who has fallen ill on holiday at the Majestic Colonial Punta Cana to contact Your Holiday Claims.â
