Lancashire-based law firm, YourHolidayClaims, a division of Farnworth Rose solicitors, has successfully recovered £8,250 compensation for a young family who suffered food poisoning whilst on holiday at the Sunrise Tirana Aqua Park Resort, Nabq Bay, Egypt.
Miss Nazia Arshad and her fiancé  Mr Christian Moss booked their all-inclusive family holiday with tour operator Thomas Cook..
Unfortunately what was expected to be a lovely family holiday, a time to spend quality time together resulted in a holiday nightmare.
The food and hygiene standards in the hotel were below average, flies swamped the dining area and were constantly landing on the food. The food was re-heated and served the next day, believed to be the cause of the illness outbreak Miss Arshad and Mr Moss suffered.
Miss Arshads teenage daughters had to resort to just eating chips because of the poor standard of food in the hotel.
Only a few days after their arrival at the Sunrise Tirana Aqua Park Resort, the couple became ill and confined to their rooms, suffering symptoms of gastric illness that lasted for the remainder of their holiday.
Nazia and her fiancé Christian turned to YourHolidayClaims solicitors for legal advice upon their return to the UK for help to make a claim against Thomas Cook.
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at YourHolidayClaims said: âMiss Arshad and Mr Moss had become extremely ill during their stay on holiday and had still not made a full recovery on their return to the UK.
âMr Moss has still not recovered and has now been diagnosed with IBS syndrome, believed to be as a result of the illness he suffered whilst on holiday.
âI am saddened by the fact they had been completely let down by the poor food and hygiene standards in the hotel and we are all pleased with the outcome of their case.
âOutbreaks of illness abroad are preventable and the hotel and tour operator have a duty of care and responsibility to maintain health and safety of the highest standards in the hotel.
âI hope they book a family holiday in the future that will not result in illnessâ.
Miss Arshad commented: âWe had both worked really hard to be able to take both our daughters on holiday to Egypt that in total cost us £2,000.
âYou dont expect to become ill whilst on holiday.
âThe standard of food in the hotel was below average and re-heated and served the next day which we think is the reason why we all became ill.
âWe didnt know that we were able to claim compensation, especially two years after this had all happened.
âIt was only until my Sister informed us having seen something on Watchdog that we decided to look into it.
âWe then started to look on the internet and came across a lot of good reviews about YourHolidayClaims.
âAnne dealt with our claim from start to finish, we cant thank her enough for all her hard work and dedication towards us throughout the claims process. We felt that Anne genuinely wanted the best outcome for us all and set out to recover the compensation for us as quickly as possible.
âWe assumed that a claim for compensation would take 12 months or more to settle, so it was a nice surprise for us to have received the cheque much sooner than we expected.
âWe will certainly do our homework before travelling abroad next time and highly recommend anyone who has been abroad to speak to Anne and make a claimâ.
