Illness at the Sharm Grand Plaza, Egypt, results in holiday illness legal action

The team at Your Holiday Claims has heard from a guest who is seeking compensation after falling ill at the Sharm Grand Plaza in Egypt.

Other holidaymakers have taken to TripAdvisor to review the resort, with some complaining of poor hygiene standards and illness during their stay.

A visitor from Cheshire who was staying at the resort for their honeymoon commented: “Food ok but got the Egyptian bug which the locals informed us spreads through even the locals in November. Had meals at the a la carte but food served cold.”

Another guest described the food being served as “terrible” and wrote: “We went for our first meal (evening dinner) and the food was cold and not edible.”

“Sadly this set the standard for the rest of the holiday. We tried both restaurants but no joy. In fact the food in the upstairs restaurant was worse than downstairs.”

“After speaking to numerous guests, some of whom were regular visitors to the hotel, we were told they too had seen a drastic decline in the standard of food. On three occasions my wife had fish which apparently had been grilled but underneath the blackened skin was raw and had to be sent back”.

And a guest said that the resort had “serious health and hygiene issues”, stating: “The salad bar was inspected by a hygiene officer whilst we were there and many dishes were sent back to the kitchen as they weren’t cold enough.”

“The quality of food was appalling. My husband and I are not fussy eaters and we lived in the Middle East for 10 years as well as being well travelled but we ended up eating chips – which again, were cold soggy and raw in the middle. The choice of food is extremely limited and very poor.”
