Here at Your Holiday Claims we have recently received an enquiry following reports of illness on-board the Thomson Majesty cruise ship.
This comes after an outbreak of illness aboard the ship was reported last year when an engagement getaway ended in a couples holiday being ruined by sickness.
Lauren and Danny Bushaway went on a cruise to the Canary Islands in 2013. During the cruise Danny popped the question, shortly before falling violently ill and needing three injections from the doctor to stop his vomiting.
Other guests have also taken to Cruise Critic to review their holiday cruise with the Thomson Majesty.
A âvery unhappy and poorly customerâ commented: âFood was lukewarm at best, many passengers were poorly with norovirus. This was confirmed whilst on the shipâ.
Another guest said they had heard reports of norovirus whilst on their cruise and added: âWe saw first-hand a cleaner using one damp cloth on handrails, elevators, door handles. All they did was contaminate clean surfaces and move around the germs.â
âThere was fluff sticking to surfaces and kitchen equipment was grubby if not worse. Health and safety appeared non-existent nor was proper training on basic hygieneâ.
Last year Your Holiday Claims successfully helped a total of 26 British holidaymakers claim a combined total of £42,500 in compensation after they were affected by an outbreak of gastric illness during a holiday on the Boudicca cruise ship.
Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, Anne Thomson, said: âOutbreaks of illness can spread incredibly quickly on-board cruise ships so it really is extremely important that excellent standards of hygiene are maintained.
âIf you have fallen ill whilst staying on board the Thomson Majesty I would encourage you to get in touch with us as soon as possible to see whether you would be entitled to make a claimâ.
