We have recently received an enquiry following reports of illness at the Steigenberger Aqua Magic in Egypt.
Several guests have contacted our holiday claims experts after falling ill during their stay at the Thomas Cook hotel.
Holidaymakers have also reviewed their time at the hotel on TripAdvisor, one guest said it was a “disappointing family holiday” and that there was “rubbish everywhere and discarded dirty nappies left by the pool”.
They went on to say: “Ended up with a bug that lasted throughout the holiday and I still have it”.
Another guest said that the chicken they ordered at the hotel was pink and “definitely not safe to eat”.
A lady from Woking also noticed hygiene issues at the hotel whilst holidaying with her family. She said: “As a family of four we stayed here for two weeks. This hotel is nowhere near a 5 star. It has a long way to go and has numerous hygiene issues.
“Luckily it was just me that got ill and since being back I have had it confirmed as a bacterial infection that I had picked up from the hotel. The staff tell you it’s the weather but when we heard that the staff were ill as well, alarm bells started to ring”.

“It is imperative that the tour operators and hotel management take these reports seriously to ensure that the health of all of its guests is protected.
