We have recently received an enquiry after a family holiday in Tunisia ended with one member leaving with salmonella.
The family had travelled to the Thomas Cook promoted El Ksar Resort, where two of family members were affected by illness. It was later confirmed that one of them had contracted salmonella.
Other holidaymakers have taken to TripAdvisor to review the four star hotel with one guest stating the food was âinedible, cold and greasyâ.
They added: âMaybe Im fussy but I really do not want to chance reheating food in a microwave that has been kept warm for god knows how longâ.
Another holidaymaker described the facilities as âabsolutely disgustingâ with rubbish all over the complex and underwear, condoms and plastic bags in the swimming pool.
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, commented: âIts very concerning to hear of holidaymakers contracting salmonella whilst on holidayâ.
âSalmonella can often lead to holidaymakers contracting gastroenteritis â an inflammation of the stomach or bowels resulting in symptoms including vomiting and diarrhoea.â
âThere is a much higher risk of infection when foods such as meat and poultry are undercooked. It is vital that all hotels ensure they have high standards of food hygiene in place to ensure that holidaymakers are not placed at risk of contracting such illnessesâ.
