At Your Holiday Claims we have recently received an enquiry from British holidaymakers after a holiday illness at the Hotel Orquidea Bahia in Gran Canaria, Spain.

This comes after we have previously been instructed by holidaymakers who suffered similar illness at the hotel.

A family of four suffered from gastroenteritis at the Orquidea Bahia back in June 2013. At that time,the illness was thought to be contracted as a result of poor food and hygiene standards at the hotel. This led to holidaymakers suffering symptoms including sickness and diarrhoea.

Gastroenteritis Claims

Gastroenteritis is a very common form of holiday illness. Holidaymakers can contract gastroenteritis as a result of food poisoning infections such as salmonella or E. coli. This leads to an infection of the intestines, which can cause the symptoms of sickness, diarrhoea, and stomach cramps.

The illness is often contracted where food preparation and hygiene is poor. Undercooked poultry, food handlers failing to clean hands, and uncovered food which is left open to birds or insects can often cause illness amongst holidaymakers.
