A newlywed couple who booked their dream honeymoon at the Reef Oasis Beach Resort hotel in Sharm el Sheikh have warned other holidaymakers about the hotel. Their honeymoon was completely ruined due to poor food and hygiene standards that turned their dream holiday into a nightmare.
The couple from Hurghada in Egypt were left with no water for up to three days during their stay and were also appalled by the poor standard of food and uncleanliness they were exposed to.
On TripAdvisor the couple said: âThere was no hot water for three days. The food is dirty, nobody cares and the rooms are ugly. They messed up our honeymoon.
âDont you ever think about going here.â
A British lady from Shropshire whose well-earned family holiday was ruined during their stay at the same hotel also complained on TripAdvisor: âOur room was well situated but old and tired and in need of a good clean.
âThere were plenty of sun beds and no towel reservation allowed but the sun bed mattresses were old and dirty.
âThe food was the worst I have ever had. Flies and birds flying around the restaurants and dipping into the food, tables not wiped down, rancid butter, the food was not kept cool or hot accordingly and guests were also handling food on the buffet.
âPaying restaurants were good but hidden extras were not always pointed out.
âStaff continually badgering for tips and moaning about their own situation and the hotel was almost solely occupied by Russians.
âThe beach was busy and there was lots of hustling for trips etc.
âWe will not be returningâ.
In recent years, the Reef Oasis Beach hotel has been reported to have experienced outbreaks of illness resulting in British holidaymakers suffering bacterial and parastic infections including salmonella, shigella, and Giardia.
Many guests who returned to the UK complained of suffering illness during their stay at the hotel, thought to be as a result of food poisoning.
Commenting on the latest complaints made by holidaymakers that have recently returned from their stay at Reef Oasis Beach Resort, Anne Thomson, Head of the Travel Law Department at Your Holiday Claims said: âThe team and I are growing increasingly worried about the continuous complaints being made against the hotel, especially after previously being instructed to handle claims for people who became ill during their stay here.
âI am concerned the problems reported then are still persisting and fear others may become ill during their stay at the Reef Oasis Beach Resort unless the hotel management and tour operators involved act upon the complaints being made.
âWe hope a full investigation will be carried out and food and hygiene standards drastically improved to prevent others from having their holidays ruined by illness.
âI would urge anyone who has been ill during their holiday at this hotel to contact us directly to receive free legal advice and guidance as they may be entitled to make a holiday illness compensation claim.â
