British holidaymakers are reporting falling ill on holiday at the Sea Beach Resort & Aqua Park in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.
Visitors to the hotel have reported suffering symptoms including sickness, stomach cramps, and diarrhoea during their stay. This has led to some requiring medical treatment from onsite doctors.
One holidaymaker commented on TripAdvisor: âThe standard and quality of the food and drink was not brilliant, particularly as this is an all-inclusive hotel.
âDuring my two week stay, myself and a number of other guests fell ill to a gastric bug, resulting in all of us seeing the onsite doctor and receiving medical assistance.â
Others have stated that members of their party contracted E. coli at the Sea Beach Resort & Aqua Park.
They said: âA member of our party had to visit the doctor having been on the toilet most of the night and throwing up.
âSix of the rest of our party ended up the same way. The hotel didnt want to know and we spent the rest of the holiday eating out of the hotel. The food really is that bad.
âAnother member of my holiday party had to be rushed in with E. coli and is still not well.â
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, commented on the reports: âIt is worrying to read such reports of illness at the Sea Beach Resort & Aqua Park.
âE. coli is a bacterium which can cause food poisoning. It can be contracted by ingesting undercooked or raw meat or consuming raw fruits and vegetables which are contaminated with the bacteria. It is crucial that all hotels maintain high food and hygiene standards, in order to safeguard the health of holidaymakers.â
âSymptoms including severe sickness and diarrhoea can quickly ruin a holiday.â
