Holiday hell as Barcelo Punta Cana guest suffers from E coli
A recent visitor to the Barcelo Punta Cana hotel has claimed that they have contracted the illness E coli during their stay over the Christmas period.
E coli is a bacterial infection that is most commonly contracted as a result of consuming food which has been contaminated with the E coli bacteria.
The illness can often cause unpleasant symptoms such as nausea, headaches, stomach cramps, diarrhoea and sometimes a fever. These symptoms usually tend to last for around two weeks.
The affected holidaymaker described their stay at the hotel as “the worst experience I’ve had”.

Additional visitors to the hotel have complained of poor standards of food hygiene and cleanliness within the resort.
One hotel guest commented: “The buffet was disgusting. All the food was cold every day and the majority of it looked like it had been sitting out for a good while”.
Tracy Stansfield, an experienced holiday claims solicitor at Your Holiday Claims, said of the reports: “It is worrying to read of a holidaymaker contracting E coli during their stay at the Barcelo Punta Cana”.
Tracy continued: “When food is served at incorrect temperatures, holidaymakers are placed at risk of contracting serious illness.
“I trust that the tour operators and hotel management will investigate any reports of illness in order to protect the health of all hotel guests.
Tracy then concluded by offering her advice, and stated: “I would encourage anyone who has fallen ill on holiday at this hotel to seek justice and prompt legal advice as they may be entitled to make a claim for compensation”.
