Food poisoning outbreak reported at Dreams La Romana
- Multiple former guests of the resort succumb to illness
- Holidaymakers forced to fork out thousands for medical treatment
- One holidaymakers reveals their celebratory 50th birthday holiday at the resort was spoiled by sickness
At YourHolidayClaims, we fear many holidaymakers may have had their recent holidays at the Dominican Dreams La Romana ruined by illness.
Speaking of their recent stay at the Dreams La Romana hotel on TripAdvisor, a lady from Milton Keynes spoke of her experience:
âMy husband was very sick for five days, 2 of which he spent in hospital, at a cost of $3000.00.
âA sickness bug was going around and unfortunately the hotel did not acknowledge the problem and so it spread very quickly. As I explained to concierge, it seemed like norovirus and is easily tackled by good cleanliness”.
Reports of food poisoning have also recently emerged and another gentleman from Norwich who travelled to the resort also spoke of his experience after his 50th Birthday celebration was spent lying in a hospital bed early in January 2015:
âI came down with a bout of diarrhoea.
âNormally Id just put this down to being a bit of deli belly but I was still suffering symptoms on the Friday and on Saturday I was so ill that my wife had to call out the onsite doctor.
âHe insisted we pay $120 before he would even look at me. My wife was horrified.
âI had a 39c temperature and was admitted to hospital, which was in bavaro.
âOnce they received a $2,000 dollar deposit, despite having insurance, they pumped me full of antibiotics and fluids via an intravenous drip.
âThe 10th of January is when I was taken in which was my 50th Birthday.
âThere appeared to be more people suffering from illness than the management would admit toâ.
Our Head of Travel Laws take
âThe team and I are deeply concerned about the reports that are emerging and sincerely hope both the tour operators and hotel management carry out a full investigation into the cause of why so many appear to have fallen ill.
âWe are deeply concerned about the well-being of British holidaymakers due to travel to this resort and hope the problems are resolved with immediate effect.
âI would urge anyone who has been affected by illness on their package holiday within the last three years to contact either myself, or a member of our team for legal advice and support in making a claim for compensationâ.
