The TripAdvisor website contains many uncomplimentary reports about the poor hygiene and food safety standards at The Grand Hotel in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

The Grand Hotel is promoted by tour operator, Red Sea Holidays and featured for its “excellent choice of restaurants with many á la carte options and several bars”.

One disgruntled guest said “the quality of the food, presentation and service in the restaurants ranged from very poor to shockingly appalling”. The guest claimed to have witnessed “loud arguments and fights breaking out between staff and a chef spitting into a bucket as he cooked”.

“One member of my party found a stone in her food on one occasion” it is reported.

Red Sea Holidays faced criticism, “despite numerous complaints to Red Sea Holidays, our concerns have been glossed over and they seem to consider this catalogue of disasters acceptable”.

Another guest said “anyone thinking of using Red Sea Holidays or holidaying at The Grand Hotel, I would advise not, unless you want a drastic weight loss”. “My partner and I had food poisoning after consuming raw chicken in one of their restaurants. We were very poorly for the remainder of our holiday”.
