The TripAdvisor website contains many uncomplimentary reports about the poor hygiene and food safety standards at The Grand Hotel in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
The Grand Hotel is promoted by tour operator, Red Sea Holidays and featured for its âexcellent choice of restaurants with many á la carte options and several barsâ.
One disgruntled guest said âthe quality of the food, presentation and service in the restaurants ranged from very poor to shockingly appallingâ. The guest claimed to have witnessed âloud arguments and fights breaking out between staff and a chef spitting into a bucket as he cookedâ.
âOne member of my party found a stone in her food on one occasionâ it is reported.
Red Sea Holidays faced criticism, âdespite numerous complaints to Red Sea Holidays, our concerns have been glossed over and they seem to consider this catalogue of disasters acceptableâ.
Another guest said âanyone thinking of using Red Sea Holidays or holidaying at The Grand Hotel, I would advise not, unless you want a drastic weight lossâ. âMy partner and I had food poisoning after consuming raw chicken in one of their restaurants. We were very poorly for the remainder of our holidayâ.
Experienced solicitor at Your Holiday Claims, Tracy Stansfield said âserving raw chicken is dangerous and simply not unacceptable. It is always distressing to hear of holidays being needlessly ruined and of holiday makers suffering sickness throughout their holidayâ.
âI would urge holiday makers suffering sickness at The Grand Hotel to seek medical advice and to contact the team and see if they are entitled to compensationâ.
