We are becoming increasingly concerned about the number of people who have reported to have fallen ill during their stay at the Esra Hotel in Turkey.
A British holidaymaker is suspected to have contracted cryptosporidium. The man, along with his Family had to be taken to a medical centre where he was put on a drip and prescribed medication.
The gentlemens partner said on Tripadvisor:
âMy son, my boyfriend and myself all fell ill with the dreaded esra bug but not as bad as some poor people though. There was family after family being taken to the medical centre, put on drips and given medication free of charge. Since coming home Ive not been right and my boyfriend has had to phone in sick as he is still ill with stomach cramps and diahorrea, he is waiting for a sample back from the docs but its suspected cryptosporidiumâ.
Another lady who also suffered illness along with other members of her Family during their stay in September 2013 said:
âMy husband and two children both came down with this sickness bug on the 5th day of our holiday â the Hotel or Reps did nothing to communicate to holiday makers to alert them to the fact that there was a bug running rife in the hotel. Lots of families were going down with this bug and were saying that children were still swimming in the murky water of the swimming pool. I have never been to a resort where the water in the pool looked so murky.
My husband ended up in the medical centre on a drip â on our last day. We managed to catch our flight home, but got no assistance whatsoever in helping us. The medical centre said they had told the Rep Kelly! well she made no contact with us to make sure we were ok to travel.
I would not recommend this Hotel to anyone and god help you all who are travelling there in the next couple weeks. Take plenty of medication with you!â
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at YourHolidayClaims, a division of Farnworth Rose solicitors said:
âIt appears as though the cause of illness could be as a result of the neglect and poor standard of cleanliness in the swimming pool.
âHowever, cryptosporidium illness can be contracted in a number of ways, by swallowing recreation water that is contaminated, swallowing water or beverages contaminated with stool from infected humans or animals or by eating uncooked food that is contaminated.
âI would urge anyone who suspects they may have contracted this illness to seek medical attention straight away.
âThe tour operator and management of this hotel should carry out a full investigation into the cause of the recent outbreak and take the necessary action to prevent this from happening again.
