A Hertfordshire husband and wife have instructed the legal experts at YourHolidayClaims following a ruined stay at Club Hotel RIU Karamboa, Cape Verde

Retired couple Mr and Mrs Coffey travelled to the five-star resort in late August 2017 to celebrate a milestone birthday.

Unfortunately, rather than toasting the happy occasion, the pair were left suffering from debilitating illness symptoms such as stomach cramps and diarrhoea.

Speaking to the specialist YHC claims team, Mrs Coffey is certain that poor hygiene standards at the Cape Verde hotel were responsible for their illness. She alleges to have witnessed a number of hygiene breaches and states that the food “could not be trusted.”

“Burger patties were raw in the middle and sausages were not cooked through. I cut into some pork and blood ran out,” she adds.

“One morning I decided to have some scrambled eggs for breakfast at the dining room by the pool and I was shocked when I saw green mould running through it. I called the floor supervisor and pointed this out to her, she spoke to the woman behind the counter about it, who pulled the dish back slightly. I called the supervisor again and requested it be moved away from the food area as other people could still reach it, only then was it removed.

“This was my husbands treat for my 70th birthday, ruined!”
