A group of 18 British holidaymakers who were struck down with sickness and diarrhoea during their stay at Corfu Sea Gardens have turned to our team of holiday illness experts for help to claim compensation.
There have been complaints made against this hotel since 2008. Many holidaymakers have complained that it was a holiday from hell and to avoid like the plague.
One holidaymaker who has just returned from their holiday at the Corfu Sea Gardens hotel in October 2013 said: âTried breakfast first morning, lukewarm to cold egg and an odd looking bacon or meat of some sort. Didnt do that again! Toast was OK. No butter.
“Beer served in small plastic cups as was the wine and anything else. We had a car so we could escape to the village which was like a ghost town, all it needed was the Good, Bad & Ugly theme with some tumbleweed rolling about. The whole place was dead, shut up except for the Tex Mex restaurant which was good and a Chinese place which we didnt try.
âThe second night we tried the all-inclusive evening meal. The food seemed to be pre-cooked and then left, again lukewarm to cold. That has to be hazardous to health. Two bites was enough. We had our meals out.”
Another guest who returned from their stay in September 2013 also complained: âThe food in the restaurant was the same every day youll be happy if you have a love for pasta. We believe all the food was leftovers from the day before as it was always cold, meat was under cooked and slimy all of the timeâ.
Salmonella outbreaks at the Corfu Sea Gardens
It appears that the poor standard of food and reports of suspected salmonella food poisoning are not the only cause for concern. A gentlemen from Manchester who stayed at the Corfu Sea Garden in August 2013 said: âThis is the filthiest âhotelâ I have ever had the misfortune to stay in, we stayed for 2 weeks and spent the last 10 days using the pool at the hotel next door (due to me getting glass in my foot from the filthy pool) The food at this dive was either vastly undercooked (pink turkey) or massively over cooked also the food was the same every dayâ.
If you have suffered illness during your stay at this hotel, we recommend that you seek medical attention straight away.
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at YourHolidayClaims, a division of Farnworth Rose solicitors said: âHaving read through pages of complaints on Tripadvisor, it is disappointing to find that despite complaints being made about this hotel as far back as 2008, the food and hygiene standards in this hotel appear to have been ignored and peoples holidays have been completely ruined by the neglect of the hotel staff and tour operators involved in selling and promoting package holidays to this hotel.
âThe people that I have been speaking to have been very poorly and a few people are still unwell.
âI fear there have been many more people who have contracted illness during their stay here and hope that a full investigation will be carried out to identify and remedy the cause of the latest illness outbreak in this hotel.
âI would urge anyone that has been affected to seek medical attention straight away and contact us as soon as possible for more information and help to make a successful compensation claim.
