Confirmed Cases of Gastroenteritis at Rixos Resort, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt

Your Holiday Claims has received an enquiry from a recently married couple who fell ill during their visit to the Rixos Resort in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

There have been various reports from British holidaymakers of illness suffered at the resort with many being forced to visit the onsite doctor.

The couple, who contacted Your Holiday Claims after suffering from sickness during their trip, had travelled to the Rixos Resort for their honeymoon. However, their once in a lifetime holiday was ruined by an illness that they believe could have been a result of food poisoning.

The husband’s illness was serious enough to result in a visit to the onsite doctor, who diagnosed him with gastroenteritis. The couple stated that many others had reported to be suffering with similar symptoms and had also been diagnosed by the doctor as having contracted gastroenteritis.

More British holidaymakers have taken to TripAdvisor to report suffering from illness at the Rixos Resort in Sharm El Sheikh, with one person stating, “After the second night I had started to develop severe stomach cramps, which is unusual for me. I have been back for a few days now and have never been in such bad abdominal pain. Unfortunately I don’t think the staff preparing the food understand about hygiene.

“I would not recommend the a la carte restaurant, terrible quality of meat, very fatty and the chicken is very odd tasting. I am very disappointed and would not recommend this hotel at all”.

John, from Renfrewshire in Scotland also commented, “On the third day of our holiday my girlfriend took unwell, so I took her to the onsite doctor.

“She was diagnosed with gastroenteritis and was put on a drip for two hours. While we were there we noticed the doctors seemed full of people suffering from the same symptoms.

“After two wasted days where she couldn’t leave the room we tried to make the best of the remaining days. Overall, what should have been a relaxing week in the sun turned out to be exactly the opposite”.

We would hope that these illnesses would at least result in a full investigation into the health and hygiene standards at the Rixos Resort”.
