Salmonella, a food poisoning commonly contracted by eating undercooked food or produce such as chicken, is a regularly reported cause of illness within busy holiday resorts and hotels.
Recent visitors to the Tryp Cayo Coco have commented on TripAdvisor claiming that âmeals were constantly warmed up or freezingâ with âcockroaches running freely over the food barsâ.
One holidaymaker commented: âAs the holiday wore on I became more and more sick. I was diagnosed day before I flew home with gastric problems and chronic dehydration and put on a drip and injection in the doctors.â

Tracy Stansfield of Your Holiday Claims commented on the reports: âI am very concerned to hear reports of holidaymakers falling ill with salmonella and gastric illnesses at Tryp Cayo Coco in Cuba.
âFood left at the incorrect temperature or open to contamination from pests is an extremely serious issue and holds an extremely high risk of illness.
