âIt was like a remake of the exorcistâ: ClubHotel Riu Costa Del Sol suffering revealed by guests
- Multiple holidaymakers come down with âaggressiveâ bug
- Italian restaurant held as possible cause by one visitor
- Thomson rep acknowledges there is an illness problem and claims the âbug is airborneâ
The holiday illness experts at YourHolidayClaims were made aware of illness issues at the Spanish resort, after being contacted by a recent guest of the resort whose family all succumbed to illness during their stay.
Unfortunately, it would appear that this holidaymaker is not the only one to have recently visited the ClubHotel Riu Costa Del Sol to have been affected by the apparent illness issues.
Many holidaymakers have left comments on the hotel reviewing site TripAdvisor to air their opinions, after also having their holidays spoiled by sickness.
In a detailed post, one former guest of the Costa del Sol resort claims both they and their partner wee taken ill during their stay as they revealed:
âIt was after the visit to the Italian I was taken ill. I can honestly say, I’ve never known a sickness happen so aggressively or quickly. The stomach cramps were extremely painful. When throwing up, it was like a remake of the exorcist!!! I’m not going to mention the other end. I didn’t leave the bedroom for a full 24 hours.
âAte again in Italian, following day, wife came down with exactly the same symptoms as myself. With exactly the same results. I’m not saying it’s down to the Italian, but definitely a coincidence.
âAgain she stayed in room for a full 24hours. This time I filed the sickness report with the rep. Again he acknowledged the virus/bug. Again [the] advice was to stay in [our] roomâ.
In addition to this, another holidaymaker warned fellow holidaymakers to âbeware of the bugâ, before adding:
âI read reviews before I went and thought I’d be OK. I caught the dreaded bug [and] had D&V (diarrhoea and vomiting).
My daughter was sick too had to call doctor up to the room when she couldn’t even keep water down, the Dr charged â¬50 [and] gave [her] prescription for anti-sickness medicineâ.
Our Head of Travel Laws thoughts
âI was notified about the illness outbreak at the ClubHotel Riu Costa Del Sol recently, and I must say Im appalled at the reports.
âThe tour operator and hotel management need to do more than acknowledge this issue, they need to take action as reports of illness have been made for well over a month now.
âAffected holidaymakers need to remember that they dont have to suffer in silence when there holiday is ruined by illness, me and the rest of the team here at YourHolidayClaims are always on hand to helpâ.
