The first outbreak of illness was reported earlier this year in April 2014 and yet more holidaymakers continue to return to the UK complaining of having holidays ruined due to illness causedÂ by poor food and hygiene standards at the Hotel Playa Pesquero, Cuba.

One holidaymaker who recently stayed at the Playa Pesquero hotel commented on TripAdvisor after his holiday was ruined by a stomach bug. This was once again suspected to have been a result of bugs and flies contaminating uncovered food.
The gentleman said: âThe food hygiene in this hotel is the worst I have ever come across, breakfast was the worst, flies and birds everywhere, not just eating from the table but actually from the buffet itself, all the food uncovered and covered with flies and other bugs.
âWe did mention the food hygiene to the rep and filled in a survey during the holiday, all to no avail. They did close the two main buffet restaurants down for a couple of days and we thought they would use the time to make provisions to cover up the food, but when they re-opened it was the same old Im afraid.
âWe werent the only ones complaining about the food situation as you can see from earlier posts, and at the airport we soon discovered we werent the only ones to fall foul of the stomach bugs. Most people had suffered the same fate as us.
âIn all my years of traveling I have never been poorly with a stomach bug. Here I was ill for six days.â

âThe tour operators and hotel management staff are legally responsible for providing and maintaining the highest standards of food and hygiene in hotels abroad to prevent illness outbreaks from occurring.
âI am concerned that, despite the widespread outbreak of illness having been reported three months ago, people are continuing to become ill during their stay here.
âThis is not acceptable and I would urge anyone who has been ill during their stay at the Playa Pesquero to contact us.
âWe are already handling many claims for holidaymakers who have turned to us for legal advice and help to claim compensation after being affected and I sincerely hope the tour operators take drastic action to resolve the problems.â
