Lawyers at Your Holiday Claims have recently been reading reports of holiday illness at the Dreams Beach Resort in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.
British holidaymakers have commented on TripAdvisor that their holidays were ruined by poor food standards and unclean rooms. This has led to some guests requiring medical treatment after falling ill at the resort.
A hotel guest from Blackpool said: âOur first rooms were not clean at all. We had no hot water for two and half days and the toilets wouldnt flush.
âEventually we asked to be moved. In the next room there was dried sick down the wall at the side of the toilet and the toilet still didnt flush.
âThe cooking station at breakfast was a disgrace. It was filthy, if you saw that in a restaurant in England you would walk out.â
Others who have stayed at the Dreams Beach Resort have noted that many of the guests were forced to seek medical attention during their holiday.
One British holidaymaker commented: âAs mentioned in other posts, there was lots of people sporting white bandages on their arms because they needed a drip due to having an upset stomach.
âWe both suffered but just stuck to the Imodium. It did work, but it took 24 hours to feel better. It seems strange that so many people got struck down with this ailment.
âAfter being ill I refused to eat the salad and cleaned all the cutlery and plates before eating.â
Some holidaymakers have stated that they believe food poisoning may have been the cause of their illness.
One visitor from Leicester said: âMe and my partner as well as three other couples we were with became ill in the second week.
âThis is probably because on three occasions I was served raw chicken. Not only this, food that was served at lunch time was re-served at dinner and again in the evening.â
Food poisoning related illness can very quickly ruin a holiday. Gastroenteritis, an intestinal infection, is a common illness suffered as a result of food poisoning and causes symptoms of diarrhoea, sickness, and stomach cramps. Where the symptoms suffered are severe, dehydration can occur.
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, commented: âThe reports that we have read online relating to the Dreams Beach Resort are of concern. Holidaymakers should not be exposed to illness as a result of food poisoning, especially when this is caused by undercooked or raw chicken.
âThe hotel management and tour operators have a duty of care to protect the health and safety of holidaymakers. I would advise anyone who has fallen ill on holiday at the Dreams Beach Resort to contact Your Holiday Claims. We are always here to offer advice as to the merits of a persons claim for compensation.â
