Your Holiday Claims are currently dealing with numerous claims for compensation involving the Aqua Fun Club in Marrakech British holidaymakers suffered from a range of gastric illnesses, including salmonella and campylobacter.
Here at Your Holiday Claims we are currently representing a group of families who travelled to the Aqua Fun Club during the summer of 2011 and fell ill during their stay with symptoms of food poisoning.
This is the very same hotel where our expert solicitors were able to help a Worcester man receive £4,000 in damages following a severe shigella infection.
A 29 year old woman from Cardiff had travelled to the Aqua Fun Club with her younger sister in September 2011 for a two week holiday when she became seriously ill. The two ladies suffered from various symptoms including severe stomach cramps, diarrhoea and fever throughout their stay after eating at the all-inclusive buffet. Many of the food items served at the buffet were not labelled at all, meaning that they were often unable to identify what they were eating.
One of the ladies was subsequently diagnosed with salmonella and campylobacter. Â Salmonella is often harboured in the intestines of farm animals such as poultry and as a result can frequently be found in raw or improperly cooked meat. Consuming this can then lead to food poisoning, with victims suffering from sickness, diarrhoea and severe stomach cramps.
Reports of visitors to the Aqua Fun Club hotel falling ill have continued into late 2013, with British holidaymakers still finding the food at the hotel to be below expected standards. One person on the website Tripadvisor stated, âMy husband and I booked this hotel for a winter getaway in December for his 40th. The hotel was shown to have 5 stars- its far from that.
âThe food was awful- every day was a slight variation of chicken on the bone, rice and veg. I had a bad stomach for two days whilst thereâ.
A woman from Solihull commented, âThe food was not brilliant and each day very much the same along with the same flies feeding off the open food. We and other guests had upset stomachsâ.
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law with over 25 years experience of dealing with holiday illness claims, is currently representing those families who stayed at the hotel in 2011. Anne comments: âYour Holiday Claims has been dealing with claims relating to the Aqua Fun Club dating back to late 2011 and the fact that we are still witnessing reports of illness and apparent poor food standards is very much a concern.
âIf anyone has suffered from any issues similar to those reported, they may be entitled to compensation and should contact us as soon as possibleâ.
