British couple seriously ill with Campylobacter after stay in Turkish hotel

A couple have contacted us today who became seriously ill with symptoms of campylobacter at Suntopia Tropical Hotel in Sarigerme, Turkey.

The lady who contacted us and her partner said that other people had also become ill at the hotel with similar symptoms of sickness, diarrhoea and severe stomach cramps.

One holidaymaker who became ill at the Suntopia Tropical Hotel in August, 2013 said on TripAdvisor: “3 of our party were unwell. I was ill for most of the holiday with diarrhoea and my husband had it for the second week. Our daughter felt sick all the time  and all 3 of us required medication. Many people were suffering with bad stomachs. The Thomson reps simply made excuses to try to explain the illness but in my view the poor food quality and hygiene were the cause.”
