The Aparthotel Alcudia Pins is an all-inclusive hotel, promoted by tour operators including Thomson and First Choice.
A British family who travelled to the hotel were struck by illness during their stay. Their young child continued to be affected by the illness on their return to the UK and was eventually diagnosed with cryptosporidium.
Cryptosporidium is a parasite which often leads to gastroenteritis â an inflammation of the stomach or bowels resulting in symptoms including vomiting and diarrhoea. It is most commonly contracted through ingesting contaminated drinking or recreational (swimming pool) water.
