We are reading reports on TripAdvisor of a 6 year old girl being diagnosed with Dysentery after falling ill at the Sharm Plaza Hotel in Egypt.
Thomas Cook promote this hotel amongst other tour operators.
The father of the sick child said: âThe rooms were filthy, with rust dripping down the wall in the shower room. Housekeeping sprayed the room to remove flies but left the dead flies all over the floor and bed. Do not drink water from the dispenser in the restaurant. My 6 year old daughter is still recovering from our two week stay. She has been diagnosed with Dysentery. Health officials are on the case.â
Dysentery is an inflammatory disorder of the intestines colon which causes severe diarrhoea containing blood and mucus and also symptoms of stomach cramps and fever.
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at YourHolidayClaims, a division of Farnworth Rose, said: âDysentery can cause dehydration and serious illness if it is not treated quickly and correctly. It is terrible to hear of a child contracting this disease as a result of what appears to be poor hygiene and food in this hotel.
