âSevereâ illness outbreak reported at the TUI Sensimar Cabo Verde
- Numerous former visitors of the five star report claim to have suffered from symptoms of sickness and diarrhoea during their stay
- Some guests forced to seek medical attention as a result of their condition
- The YHC team have handled numerous Cape Verde holiday illness claims within the past 12 months
According to a number of online reports, poor food hygiene at the TUI Sensimar Cabo Verde has resulted in numerous visitors of the five star hotel to have fallen ill in recent weeks.
Those who have fallen victim to the apparent outbreak have posted their thoughts on the website TripAdvisor. This includes one frustrated former visitor of the Cape Verde resort, who posted:
âOur problems occurred when my husband was taken ill and it was put down as heat and not enough to eat by the rep and medic.
âWe don’t believe this to be the case, but [more] due to [him] eating something that disagreed with him.
âHe felt unwell after breakfast and could eat lunch. He got worse through the day until the point he collapsed, then [he] suffered sickness and diarrhoea.
âI also suffered sickness and diarrhoea on our last day which is taking quite some time to go even though we have been home a couple of daysâ.
Alarmingly, further holidaymakers have also commented on how poor food hygiene is leading to illnesses at the TUI Sensimar Cabo Verde. In a post titled âNumber of issues â beware!â another afflicted guest revealed:
âUnfortunately 2 days into the holiday I suffered a severe bout of sickness and diarrhoea. I was seen by the doctor on site and prescribed medication.
âI was confined to my room for a few days which presented some difficulties to my partner due to her degree of disability.
âThe biggest issue of concern though is the hot food, it just isnt hot. Its meant to be kept hot but somethings wrong, its just not hot at all. It is, what at best can only be described as lukewarm and even cold in some cases.
âThe hotel management are aware of this, theres numerous mentions about the temperature of the hot food in other reviews.
âThe other issue we had was the attitude of the TUI rep. Again, as this is the issue of a major complaint I wont go into detail. I will say however, that this person needs some urgent disability awareness and customer relations trainingâ.
Comments from our expert solicitor
âOur legal team have discovered a number of online reports which suggest that gastric illness has recently halted many holidays at the TUI Sensimar Cabo Verde.
âIf what we have seen is true, then it is no surprise that guests are falling ill at this resort. If food is indeed being served to guests at a lukewarm temperature, then this can lead to holidaymakers suffering from many gastric illnesses such as gastroenteritis, E. coli and more.
âIf poor food hygiene has resulted in you suffering from illness on a package holiday, providing that your dates of travel are within the last three years then our experts may be able to help you.
