“Be prepared to become best friends with the toilet” at the Grand Hotel, Egypt, warns holidaymaker

Weeks after the initial outbreak at the Grand Hotel was reported to us, British holidaymakers continue to return home complaining of having fallen ill during their stay.

One man attempted to warn others on TripAdvisor about the poor food and hygiene standards in the hotel and claims the hotel management removed his review.

The man warned: “Be prepared to become best friends with the toilet”

Gary from Herne Bay said:  “All the English guests we spoke to were coming home and making complaints from very shabby rooms and general conditions of hotel, to lots of people being ill, to very poor food hygiene, etc.

A lady from London also claims to have witnessed hotel staff spitting in drinks and licking straws before taking them to the tables for people to drink.

The lady said: “We reported this straight away and the guy was sacked and asked to leave but the same evening, we saw others doing it!

“I am now going to write directly to Red Sea Holidays to complain about what was sold to us.

“My advice would be to steer well clear of this hotel!”

Another lady from London described her stay as being the most awful holiday she and her family had ever had and warned, “please, for your own sake and the sake of your children, do not go here” after the family of four suffered symptoms of suspected food poisoning and had £4,000 worth of equipment stolen from their hotel room.

“Every day all 4 of us had a very poorly tummy which still continue after being back for 2 days, for 2 days my daughter was in quite serious trouble with it!

“This was quite the most awful holiday I have ever had, please for your own sakes and the sakes of your children do not go there!”
