Two weeks after reporting illness at the Cleopatra Luxury Resort, it would appear that the problems are continuing.
Complaints are still being posted on TripAdvisor as holidaymakers continue to fall ill during their stays.
Guests have said that they âwould not recommend this resortâ after their two grandchildren âbecame ill with stomach cramps.â They family have said that they suspect the illness has come from the food served in the âmain market restaurantâ as the chef was âusing his hands and no gloves.â
One member of a family of five said âdespite avoiding salads and ice we all suffered with a gypy belly.â One of the party suffered for â10 daysâ and has said that the hotel was âbadly sanitised.â
Head of Travel Law, Anne Thomson, commented âIt is imperative that hoteliers and tour operators ensure that members of staff are fully trained in all aspects of food hygiene standards. Unless food is kept at the correct temperature and served piping hot, it can become a breeding ground for bacteria which can lead to outbreaks of food poisoning.â
âI sincerely hope that tour operators who continue to send their guests to this property are urgently investigating the hygiene standards in an attempt to pinpoint the problem.â
âIt is essential that both the cause of the illness and the spread of infection is minimised to prevent even more guests falling ill with diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach cramps.â
